  • Has anyone tried any good restaurants for the Dine LA thing?  So far, I’ve gone to Violet in santa monica (their set menu was OKAY, but very filling.  they’re french bread was delish.  It’s tapas, but…californian style).  I’ve gone to Cobra and Matadors (REALLY great Paella and no corkage fee!….But! i didn’t do the Dine LA thing, and they are on the list). I WILL be going to Ruth’s Chris (sp?) with my family this coming wednesday because my sister is a working woman now and is getting her FIRST pay check!  woo hoo! congrats sister!

If anyone hasn’t heard of it…for 2 weeks, popular LA restaurants are providing set menus with some of their menu items to give a taste of what kind of food they serve at their restaurants for very reasonable prices. Set menus range from 25-35 dollars depending on what restaurant you’re going to.

Anyone tried anything SUPERB or heard of anything superb on the list? Just go to Dinela.com and peruse around and see if you see anything you like.

I wholeheartedly agree with my sister, joycieisasellout, that everything is a countdown…

like…4 more weeks (8 more days) until my internship is over…
3 months until i take my comprehensive exams…
3 1/2 months until school is over….FOR GOOD
    4 1/2 months until i take my boards….

I think i’ll just leave it at that for now.  that’s enough for my brain to handle.

    Have a great week everyone!

I love it when the underdogs win…

  • I think I needed a day of driving over 140 miles in one day and realizing how hard I was gripping my steering wheel to make me stop and reflect on my “eventful” day yesterday…

Me, Vickie, and Connie got into a hydroplaning accident yesterday on the way to Christina’s bridal shower and by the GRACE of GOD, we went spiraling from the 210 fwy left fast lane all the way to the right shoulder facing traffic without hitting any other cars, only suffering a flat tire, no car body damage, no physical bodily harm, and being next to an overpass to protect us from the rain while we waiting for CHP and the tow truck.  God showed his amazing and grace and protection to us and we cannot be more thankful and grateful for it.  Kathy and Gil also happened to pass us on the fwy and ended up finding and helping Marcus and Vickie change her tire when the tow truck failed to find them and show up.

And, we made it in time to put on Christina’s bridal shower and have awesome fellowship.

God is so good…I don’t think I can emphasize it enough.

For some reason, I don’t know what He has in store for me, he always shows his divine power and intervention in my life.  I know He continuously protects me for a reason and I feel a conviction to really heed His direction and allow His desires be my desires…

    On a humorous note…
I definitely see my innate personality through this experience because as we were spiraling around, i didn’t have a moment where my life flashed before my eyes and instead, i remember thinking…”it’s okay, we’re okay, we’re not going to hit anything, this happens all the time….Oh wait…there’s the embankment on the right shoulder….OH NO! Vickie’s car! it can’t be ruined! she has to work tomorrow!!”

  • Today i went to the dentist to repair a chipped tooth.

I had my mouth open and i heard my fobby dentist say “bite!”

So, i bit down and he responded with…”NOOOOO! i said LIGHT, not BITE!”

what was i supposed to do?  It honestly sounded like “bite.”  Wouldn’t you be confused?

I tried really hard not to laugh afterwards…

  • sigh…

school is starting yet again.  This is my LAST semester.  I cannot believe.  2008 is a big year.  although i missed out on 2007 and having a baby on the “golden pig” year (darn….), there’s a lot of important things happening for me this year.  I’m nervous, yet excited and awaiting the plans that the Lord has in store.

Internship update.  I’m doing A LOT better.  My supervisors are SUPER encouraging and I think i needed that kick in the pants to really up my game.

My dad was giving me dieting advice and he said, “Victoria Beckam says that there is no easy way out of losing weight.”  oh Posh Spice!

  • I scarfed down this chocolate cookie from coffee bean after work today and it was really crumbly and i knew it was getting everywhere.  I had to go to michaels so i dusted my face and clothes off before going in and was browsing around when i ran into a high school acquaintance whom i hadn’t seen in like 7 years in the middle of the scrapbook section.  I remember while i was talking to her i was thinking, “oh crap…i hope i don’t have chocolate stuff everywhere” and gave myself a sly brush off around the mouth.  We said our goodbyes and when i went home i looked in the mirror and i had a HUGE chocolate spot on the middle of my chin and remnants of chocolate stains on the front of my sweater!  wahh!  way to make an impression after seven years!!

    whatever. story of my life….

    parents!!!!
will they always try to control your life??? Will it end when i start making my own money????

  • Berry, berry, berry all the time….
    Ring of fire….ring of fire…

That is what my dad has been singing ever since i borrowed the “Walk the Line” soundtrack from the library…I’ve regretted it ever since i heard him sing it 10 times in one day.

He’s mentioned how he should probably learn some more words from the song, but he says he doesn’t want to.

    Just now he sang…

    “MERRY CHRISTMAS….TOOO MEEEEE!”

awesome.  we have a great influence for this christmas season…

I went to Disneyland a few weeks back with Christina.  We got really excited about all the holiday stuff they had going on…

They had fake snow that came out of these little machines where some of the spot lights were…It wasn’t even snow…it was SOAP and we still got REALLY excited….

    over this….

They also have an awesome fireworks show!!

    sooooo blurry…

    aww…pretty….

i’m block out til next year…who wants to go??

  • You know when it’s bad when your internship supervisor tells you…”yeah, we’re trying to figure you out.  Do you even like this job??”

It’s hard when they provide more constructive feedback than positive feedback.  But i was very candid regarding my strengths and weaknesses with my supervisors and they were very encouraging and understanding.  BUT, I’m really scared of my upcoming midterm evaluation…

My mind is in 50 million places and i feel like I can’t give 100% to anything.  Thank God school is over at least and i’m taking a break from work.  Every week i’ve had to tell myself, “just this week…next week i’ll do better.”

anyways…on a lighter note…has anyone read David Sedaris’s book, “Me talk pretty one day”?  Oh man…i only read one chapter, “Big Boy” and i think i died laughing.

  • So, i was at the antique shop selling a pottery set for the mom of the guy that i work with because she wanted it and i offered…and WOW…this story is getting way too long.

ANYWAYS…we’re going through all the pottery and she’s telling me what she wants and doesn’t and such and then this Jewish family comes in because the mom had bought her daughter an antique cheese plate for hanukkah and wanted the antique store lady to tell her about the piece she bought her.  Afterwards the lady asks the kid, who looked like 10 at the oldest! what kind of foods she likes and she replied…”oh, you know the fine foods like cheeses, crackers, olives…”

i don’t get it.  the mom then said that for hanukkah she bought her a cheese tasting session at the next door cheese shop and don’t get me started on the other daughter…

I don’t understand…I thought people my age got classier and into more expensive foods which was weird for me, but for 10 year olds?!?  Don’t get me wrong, i enjoy finer foods and they taste SO delicious, but wow…

To follow up on my sister’s bakery story, I ask my father if he’s really serious about following up with this bakery idea and he was like, “yeah, i think i would be good at it.”

me: oh, you mean like the business stuff and all that.
dad: No, the baking. i think i would be good at it.
me: but you’ve never baked in your life!
dad: so? your sister can teach me.

sister…you’ve got a huge task in front of you….
