I PASSED!
GOODBYE SCHOOL!
So…I thought I would share some fiber-ous wisdom considering this topic interests me greatly.
It is so important to have healthy intestines and have regularity. You gotta get all the toxins out of there (without going into too much detail)!
So, I’ve tried a slew of fiber rich things and decided to share the items that have changed my life.
1. So, Becca told me about these fiber cakes from Trader Joes. They have a cranberry flavor (pictured) and a blueberry one.
She suggested to eat one in the morning with a cup of coffee. this didn’t work the best with me, but i felt it might be useful for someone else. It tastes great (you can eat it cold or hot), but it spoils VERY easy and you need to eat like one a day or the mold will get to it.
2. Steel cut oats (i like this brand the best). Steel-cut oats are whole grain groats (the inner portion of the oat kernel) which have been cut into only two or three pieces. (Wikipedia)
It takes about 30 min. to cook, but you can eat that batch for several days. I just heat some up with milk or soy milk, and add some dried fruit or fresh blueberries/strawberries and walnuts, sprinkle some brown sugar and voila! breakfast and fiber help!
3. Flaxseed. Contains lignans and omega 3 fatty acids. Lignans help the heart and has anti-cancer properties and also known to stabilize blood sugar for diabetes. It is also known for it’s fiber content. I sprinkle some into my oatmeal, or even in salads and it has a very nutty flavor and texture and actually punches up the taste.
Beware: excessive amounts without liquid can actually cause blockage instead of helping you (wikipedia)
4. Figs! I love these things. I get the dried ones from trader joes, but i just pop them in like a snack. So tasty. High fiber percentage as well.
5. I’ve got to say PRUNES are very effective and i like them because they are juicy and easy to eat and do the trick if you need something a little sweeter.
They don’t look too appetizing, but if you eat about 5 a day, it helps a lot.
6. Psyllium Seed Husks–This is a magical powder/grain. This i’ve seen to work the best. It’s one of the main ingredients in things like metamucil, but it’s a bit grainy and can be difficult to swallow. I think i gagged a few times, but the results are well worth the trouble. they sell it at trader joes and whole foods for sure. i haven’t checked elsewhere. But you drink this in the morning and it really keeps you regular. There is much emphasis on drinking lots of fluids with this product and that it makes your gastrointestinal tract very happy.
7. Cup of Joe. Not always, but sometimes, a good ‘ol cup of joe will give a little boost as we all know!
Well, i hope you all found this fiber knowledge very helpful. I’m not a huge fan of the mixes and pills that you can take because i feel it is all very unnatural and would rather consume as much fruits and veggies and grains as possible. Please, contribute your knowledge as well!
Happy fiber days!!
and….
I’M DONE WITH SCHOOL FOREVER!…that is if i pass. prayers please!!
no more of this crap.
I was walking to class and there was a black guy trying to talk to several students about something, holding a clip board and such so i tried to walk very quickly past him so that i wouldn’t have to dodge him and appear rude. As i walked away I heard him say, “Asian sister! Let me tell you something!”
???
Maybe he was Christian? since we are all brothers and sisters in Christ. I don’t think that one needed an explanation.
i have to drive up to USC 5 times next week. Anyone have a space on the floor for my sleeping bag and me to rent out for the week? I promise this will be the only time because i’ll hopefully be done after next week FOREVER.
also…anyone know of a good consolidation site/place/SOMETHING with something lower than 8.5% interest??
I don’t want to study…not now, not ever….
man, i’m such a baby…
WEDDINGS!! weddings left and right. crazy. not as crazy as all the Berean weddings that are going on. good luck finding things to wear.
Serena, my dear dear roomie MARRIED!

Good place just to try once. I wouldn’t mind going back again, but i wouldn’t seek it out.

Banana Waffles. Good, not great, but i enjoyed this as well.
My sister got a Eggs florentine where it was like an eggs benedict but had spinach and bacon. It was pretty good!
AUNTIE EMS! MY FAVORITE! in Eagle Rock (5 out of 5)

This was the beef brisket sandwich. doesn’t look too appetizing, but it was very tasty and i got it with a side of grilled asparagus, which was great as well
Kaitlyn’s chicken sandwich…very large and in charge. but she liked it!
Vickie’s mac and cheese. SO good! this was a special too. Very light, yet crispy.
Tina’s avacado, cheese sandwich. I think she liked it?
They also have a fantastic bakery and GREAT coffee as well!
They have the best red velvet cupcakes hands down!

Went with some old roomies to GOAT in west LA. (on La brea). (5 out of 5)
I am never disappointed by this place (been there twice). The service is awesome and the waitress recognized me and remembers my sister’s name.
I admit it, i’m a foodie. If you have any great suggestions or want to try something you’ve heard of, let me know! let’s go!
count down…three more weeks to go!! I gotta get crackalackin!
family….
my mother:
“I have this 26 year old Korean co-worker and all my other co-workers ask why I don’t introduce him to my daughters since you girls are old enough to date him. And I just said that we live far away and that my girls don’t like FOBs. He looked confused and i thought that was a little offensive, so I said quietly under my breath, fresh off boat…”
my father:
“Are you coming home tonight because i was wondering if i had to keep on the porch light for you?”
“yes dad, i’m coming home tonight.”
“okay, lights on! nobody home!”
my sister:
She is currently in Portland with my roommates at UCI. she is three years younger than me, but yet, she’s traveling with MY friends because now she is friends with MY friends. this is weird.
