Month: January 2009

  • It was my dad’s birthday today and he’s been asking for us to make him Frutti di Mare for months, so we decided that today of all days should be the day we do it.  I found the EASIEST recipe for the Bucca imitation of it and it’s pretty good!

    Frutti di Mare recipe

To make it A LOT cheaper…Go to the Korean market to buy all the seafood.  A bag of precooked and frozen mussels (around 4 bucks) and a bag of frozen clams (around 2 bucks) and HUGE calamari rings (around 4 bucks) and shrimp (4 bucks).  So cheap!  The most expensive part of the recipe is the stinking clam sauce.  Each little 8 oz. can is like 4 bucks! and you need TWO!

Father loved it.  He was speaking on the phone during dinner and told his friend how we made him dinner for his birthday and he followed that by saying that we were worth raising for this.  haha, my father the comedian.

He really enjoys non Korean food.  He says that Korean food is boring and it’s the same old thing.  I WHOLEHEARTEDLY disagree.  Nothing is better and hits the spot than a good soup and kimchi.  I wish I could cook the stuff, but alas…there is no recipe book for that sort of goodness.

On another note, on the last Vegas trip, I spotted two celebrities at the Palazzo playing blackjack!

    Robert Buckley (Yowzah!) and…

    Joanna Garcia (Privileged and Reba).
They were both canoodling together.  How cute.

  • My dad asked me today,

“What does hold down the fork mean?”

The funny/sad thing is…I knew he meant hold down the fort, but I only had an inkling of what it meant.

Reminds me of the one time we were required to simulate a life of one with schizophrenia and a mock psychologist/tester asked me what it meant when a someone says, Don’t throw rocks in a glass house.

I didn’t know what that meant as well.

Anywhoo…my parents celebrated their 27th anniversary today and I mooched off this celebration and got a free meal from them.  Man, 27 years is a long time and I can tell that they are very much still in love with each other.  bleh.  just kidding!  I only hope that I am blessed with the same.  Happy anniversary mom and dad!

Man…working life is rough.  Work politics, people pleasing, forced to have a backbone and argue your case, having to be articulate, having to deal with behaviors of kids, deal with parents, teachers, AND having to do therapy on top of that!….It’s not fun.  what happened to just working with kids?  I have to say that this job is making me get out of my comfort zone and forces me to get over my fears and anxieties and i fervently pray before each hard day to help me and get through the day without an incident.

Five months and no major mishaps yet…aside from one of my 100 pound kids that wouldn’t get off the floor.

  •  Currently on my wish list….

    Which one should I get??

    OR…

Which one will I get my money’s worth?

  • Dine LA is coming up at the end of January and first week of February…WHO wants to try new restaurants with me??
